BECOME A DEFENDER OF ZION

Daniel 9 is a powerful passage to use in prayer for the restoration of Zion.

 

“O Lord, according to all your righteous acts, let your anger and your wrath turn away from your city Jerusalem, your holy hill, because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and your people have become a byword among all who are around us. Now therefore, O our God, listen to the prayer of your servant and to his pleas for mercy, and for your own sake, O Lord, make your face to shine upon your sanctuary, which is desolate. O my God, incline your ear and hear. Open your eyes and see our desolations, and the city that is called by your name. For we do not present our pleas before you because of our righteousness, but because of your great mercy. O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive. O Lord, pay attention and act. Delay not, for your own sake, O my God, because your city and your people are called by your name” (Daniel 9:16–19).

Join the prayers of Israel. For millennia, Jews around the world have been praying for the restoration of God's Holy Mountain. Three times a day like Daniel, Jews face Zion and pray:

"To Jerusalem, your city, return in compassion and dwell in it as you have promised. Rebuild it soon in our days as an eternal structure and establish in it swiftly the throne of David. Blessed are you, LORD, who builds Jerusalem."

"May the offshoot of your servant David soon flourish and may his glory be exalted by your salvation for we wait your salvation all the day. Blessed are you, LORD, who makes the glory of salvation flourish."

"Find favor, LORD our God, in your people Israel and their prayer. Return the service to your most holy House, and accept the offerings and prayers of Israel in love and favor, and may the service of your people Israel always be pleasing to you. May our eyes behold your return to Zion in compassion. Blessed are you, LORD, who restores his presence to Zion" (from the Jewish Prayer Book).
